Open Position Descriptions:
Please contact Erin and Stacy if you are interested in hearing more about any of our volunteer roles; or fill out the form found here to let us know your specific interests.
(**Any position not listed below currently has a committee, but they are always happy to have more help! We would love to connect you with them.)
President- Elect
The president elect will work closely with the current co-presidents who are in their final year at Meadowbrook. The president elect will learn what the job entails and be ready to take over the role the following year. This role can be filled by 1 or multiple people! The PTO president oversees all that is happening with the PTO; they coordinate all chairs for events, and make sure that each task is being accomplished.
Treasurer- Elect
The treasurer elect will work closely with the current treasurer who is in their final year at Meadowbrook. This role does not require a thorough knowledge of financials, if you can keep an excel form, and 'balance' a checkbook, you can do this role!
Note Taker
The notetaker will attend our PTO Executive Boards and General Meetings (4/year) and take notes during the meetings.
Lost and Found chair
We are looking for additional people to help with our Lost and Found. This position requires you to be onsite at school periodically to sort the lost and found items. Those with names included will be returned to the students' teacher with assistance from the front office, the rest will be organized. This position can be a one-time help, or continuous throughout the year.
A chair is needed for this year to simply help coordinate our volunteers!
Directory Chair- elect
The directory chair is responsible for ensuring our online directory is working correctly! This person will work with the PTO board to get the word out at the beginning of the year for new incoming students about how to sign up for the directory, and are available by email for questions. Our current chair is in their last year in the position, so we are looking for somebody to learn the ropes this year.
Display case coordinator
There are a couple display cases onsite at Meadowbrook that the PTO is in charge of. These will be changed throughout the year depending on what the upcoming events are, or what we would like the children to see. We need somebody who is creative and loves a hands-on project to take on this fun task onsite this year!
Restaurant night chair
Restaurant nights are fundraising events that the PTO hosts in collaboration with local businesses throughout the school year. A local business will partner with our school for 1 night, and will donate a portion of the proceeds to the school. The person in this position contacts local businesses to get a night scheduled, and then corresponds with the front office staff/PTO board with details so it can be marketed.
Online school supplies coordinator
The coordinator in this position works with the front-office staff at the end of the school year to collect the supply lists from each grade, and then works with the company to get everything uploaded correctly. Lastly, get the word out! Through our social media channels, website and newsletter, we can inform our MB families about this easy way to prepare for the school year.
Graphic designer
Do have talent in graphic design? We would love to call on you for help! The graphic design volunteer position simply puts your name on our graphic designers list to be called upon if needed by our event chairs. You are welcome to say yes/no to each request as they come up. Occasionally an event will request help with flyers/graphics to market their event.
Teacher grants
The teacher grants chair collects grant applications from our Meadowbrook staff. The requests are then presented by the chair to the PTO Executive Board and are voted on. Teacher grants are requests that our teachers place to the PTO for specific learning needs for their classroom. This is a smaller time-commitment job, with lots of thanks from our staff!
Equity and Inclusion Chair
The Equity and Inclusion board is new to the Meadowbrook PTO. We know we can do better as a community, and we need your input! This committee needs many faces and voices, and your commitment can be big or small. Whether you would prefer to help with one event, or throughout the school year, your voice would be appreciated.
Our Equity and Inclusion board will help the PTO and the Meadowbrook community looks at things from all perspectives. They will assist the PTO when events are being planned to ensure all details are viewed with an inclusion lens, and may work on education events throughout the year for students and caregivers alike. We are looking for a number of people to join this board and make it into something great!
5th- grade picnic Chair
Our 5th graders will be moving to North Junior High next year also, and the end of the year picnic is a way to give our students a send-off at the end of their Meadowbrook career. The chair of this event will be the lead on planning, along with a small committee to plan the day’s events for the students on the last day of the school year. Traditionally in the past there was a breakfast event at the school, and then a park day and hosted lunch.
Bingo chair
In-school bingo happens the last day of school before winter break! This is a fun and low-stress position. Working closely with Principal Sawatzky the coordinator will make sure bingo cards and prizes are available and sorted for each grade. The day-of they will be onsite to help run the event in their classrooms!
Website
We currently have a basic website through weebly, this is a platform that is easy to use (lots of drag/drop- no coding necessary!). With basic computer knowledge, almost anybody could help with this task! We are also open to a website revamp if you have more experience in that area!
Photographer
Do you enjoy taking photos? Whether an amateur or a professional, we would love to see what you capture. Volunteering as a Meadowbrook Photographer will put you on our email list to capture photos at Meadowbrook events, to be used in the yearbook, future marketing, and on the PTO website and social media. The commitment level for this position is whatever you would like it to be!
Secretary
Our secretary takes care of all things communication! They take the lead on our social media, newsletter, and oversee the website.
Member-at-Large
The member at large is voice for our executive board. This person would attend all PTO executive meeting and general meetings (4 of each/schoolyear). They help the PTO board make decisions in regards to the PTO.
Volunteer Coordinator
The volunteer coordinator is the main point of contact for all PTO volunteers. The coordinator will communicate with all current chairs to ensure they are prepared for the school year, and assist them in any way necessary.
Parent 'expert' in the classroom
This school year Meadowbrook would love to have authentic experts to come teach/share/advise on their profession, hobbies or passions with classrooms who want to learn more about a certain profession/hobby or passion. Our teachers are continuing to implement Project Based Learning (PBL) into their classrooms. PBL consists of incorporating more real world experiences and solving real world problems. The teachers are guides and hopefully we can get our parents and community involved in being experts in the areas our students are interested in learning more about. Volunteers who are interested, would be contacted by the Instructional Coach, Mary Kornmann and she would give you advice on how to teach and how to use your expertise wisely.
